Edgworth
& District Horticultural Society
Message
from the Chairperson about the AGM and January Open
Meeting
Hello
Everyone I hope that you are all keeping safe and well.
At
our recent committee meeting [on line!] it was decided that it would be
impossible to hold our usual formal AGM in November due to the on-going
Covid
19 pandemic. Because of this the next AGM will be in November 2021 but
as a
stop-gap we will hold a special committee meeting which we will run as
though
it were an AGM and publish the minutes.
AGMs
can be very tedious but they are a very useful way for YOU the members
to keep
the society’s committee in check and to voice your
concerns/gratitude for our
actions.
You
may want to know how all your money is being spent, or what we have
been doing
all year.
You
might want to suggest changes to how the meetings, trips or holidays
are
organised.
You
may even want to help!
We
have decided to hold
this
special committee
meeting on the day planned for the AGM, 18th November. Before
this we
will put the Chairperson’s report and the
Treasurer’s Report on the website for
you to view. [If you have difficulty doing this please ring
Phil
Broughton 01204 300541 or Jean Turner 01204 309394 for help].
You
will also find the minutes from last year’s AGM
there. If you know of
anyone who isn’t on the internet could you please let them
have a look at these
documents on yours or maybe a friend or relative could access them.
We
would be very happy to take any questions or comments from you
via e-mail about anything mentioned above. Please let us have your
e-mail
before the 11th November so that we have time to consider them before
our
meeting.
January
Open
Meeting
We
are thinking of possibly restarting meetings from January using Zoom on
the
internet. This would be a live presentation by a speaker accompanied by
slides.
All you will need to do is to click on a link which will be emailed to
you. Please tell us if you would like to try this.
It
won’t be the same as ‘tea and buns with a
chat’ but it would be a start.
